Smoked duck Breast

I seldom buy frozen processed foods such as burgers, hot dogs, fish fingers etc. However, when I saw this frozen smoked duck breast at Fairprice Finest (I love Upper Thomson’s branch), I wanted to give it a try. It was less than $4 and I could get two servings out of it. Also, the ingredient list was pretty simple. So why not give it a try …

The ingredients: Duck breast, salt, sugar, flavouring and black pepper.

Product of China <– Should I be concerned? Hmmm

The “No Added Preservatives” makes the package more attractive (especially for health conscious people like me)  but in fact, do you know that most frozen meals don’t include preservatives because freezing prevents spoilage (source). The first thing I look at before I buy something is the ingredient list and the food nutrition facts label.  This smoked duck breast package however was missing its food nutrition facts label. *thumbs down*

Anyway, tonight I decided to try the smoked duck. I simply microwaved it. This is half of the duck breast that I’ve sliced (I’ve kept the other half for tomorrow’s lunch). The thick duck skin was quite easy to remove. Taste-wise? I like that smokey taste but  the meat was way way too salty!  I will still get it in the future though <– good for quick meals

In another news, I can’t wait to see mum soon! In two more days!! <3 <3 <3

xoxo
